My First Blog

This blog is called My FeMANine Side and my name is Todd Barton. To tell you a little bit about myself, I am a happily married father of three daughters and at first glance I appear to be your typical guy. Among other typically male things:
  • I love sports.
  • I am an avid Miami Dolphins and Miami Heat Fan. (still)
  • I do not usually care if my clothes match.
  • I hate shopping at the mall.
  • It's not a meal unless I spill something on my shirt
  • I sometimes use my shirt as a napkin.
  • The only hair product I use is shampoo.
The list could go on and on but just as alike as I am to most guys, there is one thing about me that is quite different from all the rest...I am completely and whole heartedly in touch with My FeMANine Side.

FeMANine - an adjective used to describe a man who can get in touch with the girly side of himself.

From cooking, scrap booking, quilting, gardening, arts and crafts, to owning my own candle company, I am always exploring interests that are traditionally considered female. I am also extremely romantic.

Every week on my blog I am going to offer advice, tips and projects that will help you get comfortable with your FeMANine Side. This week's video project is a "Fruit Chiller" that is very easy to make and looks phenomenal.

You can make it and take it to a party, or, if you're having a party it makes a great centerpiece. The ones in the video I made a week ago and have used them twice already and they still look great. I went a little fast on the video, so if you want more detailed instructions email me at kandleman@madisonavecandles.com.

In the upcoming weeks, some of the video blogs will be cooking segments, gardening segments and of course more arts and crafts. So please check back in 2008; which, as I like to say is "The year of the FeMANine Side revolution." Thanks and smiles.

Todd

This week's My "FeMANine" Side Romance Tip :

The Lost Art Of The Letter - Hardly anybody writes letters anymore. When was the last time you wrote a letter? I for one love getting letters. Here's what I want you to do after you read this. Get a pen, a piece of paper, and write the one special person in your life a love letter. It does not have to be long, or rhyme, or be funny; it just has to say how you feel. How she makes you feel. How much you enjoy sharing things with her and being with her and hanging out with her or simply I love you. Or even send her a letter that says that one of your New Year's Resolutions is try to be more FeMANine and invite her to make the chiller with you. Whatever it is, it does not matter, as long as it is from the heart. After you write it, seal it, address it and put a stamp on it then mail it. Don't say anything to her and when she gets it let me know how it goes. Good luck.
